The Bir Billing waterfall is not a single waterfall but a group of beautiful, serene, unnamed waterfalls. Although, there are two popular and most visited waterfalls, named after their location Bangoru Hidden Waterfall, also known as the Gunehar Waterfall, and Billing Waterfall.

These two waterfalls are situated on two different streams, the Gunehar River and the Bir River, in the Bir Billing area.

The Gunehar River flows on the Bir Billing area’s eastern side, making the most popular Bangoru Hidden Waterfall near Nakathana Village. The Nakathana village is around 1.5 kilometers from Bangoru village.

Bangoru Waterfall

The Bangoru Waterfall is also known as Gunehar Waterfall. This beautiful waterfall is on the Gunehar River which flows on the eastern side of Gunehar village (Bir Billing area).

The Gunehar River originates from Panchekka, a place on the foothills of the Dhauladhar range. It makes the Bangoru Waterfall near the place of Bangoru.

Two ways exist to complete the Bangoru Waterfall trek from the Bir Tibetian colony. The first way is via Gunehar village and the second is via Billing road.

  • There is no road onward to Gunehar village, so the remaining way to Bangohru waterfall can be completed by foot only.

The main places on this trek are Bir Tibetian Colony, Bir Village, Gunehar Village, Bangoru, and Bangoru waterfall.

  • After covering the 03 km distance from Bir Tibetian colony to Bir village follow the Billing road.
  • After covering a 02 km distance on Billing Road, there is a sharp U-turn called 01 number mod.
  • Take a right turn to cover a 1.5 km distance from 01 number mode to Bangoru village after leaving Billing Road.
  • After parking your vehicle, follow a small trek of less than 30 minutes from Bangoru village to Bangoru waterfall. Guides are available for 200 Rs for this trek.

The main places on this trek are Bir Tibetian Colony, Bir Village, 01 Number Mod, Bangoru village, and Bangoru waterfall.

There are no bus services on this route, so you can cover a 6.5 km distance to Bangoru village on your own or rented vehicle.

Billing Waterfall

The billing waterfall is also known as the hidden waterfall bir. Although this a small waterfall, but a very calm, serene, and less crowded waterfall.

  • The distance of 04 km from Bir Tibetian colony to Bir Ashram (Jai Kali Mata Mandir) via Bir village can be covered by vehicle.
  • Bir Ashram onward follow the trek towards Cholat Village.
  • After less than 30 minutes of trekking on the way to Cholat Village, you will have a beautiful view of Billing waterfall.

As such there is no time to visit Bir Billing waterfall, but I would suggest you visit between 1000 to 1700 during the day.

These waterfalls are inside dense and lonely forests and also the water is very cold, so the best time to explore these waterfalls is daytime.

The Billing waterfall distance is 05 km. The motorable way from Bir Tibetian colony to Bir Ashram is about 04 km, onwards the trek to Billing waterfall is about 01 km.
